It’s amazing to me that some seniors are graduating with grade point averages that are even higher than 4.0! Wow! That takes serious dedication, and I believe it shows just a hint of the dedication this girl has. Payton is a student at Nevada Union, where she does track and field, and she says the biggest thing she’s proud of is never letting her G.P.A. slip below perfect! Payton adds that the place she feels most “at home” is the classroom. Her favorite memory from high school would be the freshman homecoming dance, which created beautiful memories for her and her beloved friends. “I’d say my friends would probably describe me as someone who is sarcastic, but also who someone who is a great listener”, explains Payton, “I am also someone who is very passionate about animal rights. When I was seven, my parents offered for me to go swimming with dolphins for my birthday, but I found out about the abuse that happens to many animals in those situations and I chose mini golf instead.”
Something she has had to overcome was the death of her Pop Pop, who motivated her to begin donating blood. Her Pop Pop holds the Stanford Medical Center’s record for the most blood donated (over 700 pints), and he saved countless lives because of that. She now donates in his honor, which is so inspiring, and another indicator of the kind of person she is. She also looks up to her mom, who she cites as another one of her biggest role models. Post graduation, she plans to begin her journey to pharmacy school, adding, “I have always wanted to work in something related to medicine, and becoming a pharmacist will allow me to have flexible hours when I have my own family”. For her shoot, I wanted things to reflect her cheery personality and her kind heart, and we were blessed with a gorgeous background and a sunny day…it was perfect!
