There is a beautiful glow to Gabi, and it’s not just the warm California sunshine. She has a positive personality and a happy attitude that really made the session into something unique and wonderful! She’s finished high school, and she has big plans for continuing her studies after graduation. She’ll be pursing physical therapy, and she’s enrolling into Sierra College to major in kinesiology. She loves being creative, and enjoys expanding her skill in pottery in her spare time. Now that her time in high school is over, she had this advice to give to her past freshman self: “Softball won’t ever define you,” she said, “and don’t worry so much about what the upper class may think of you.” It seems like Gabi has found her identity, and she rocks it!
For her senior session, we wanted a diversity for our locations, so we both went into town and out into nature to capture her lovely spirit. One of my favorites was with the tufted sofa in the urban setting. Usually when you put a couch on a street corner, it looks a bit out of place. But for us, the color palette was perfect, and Gabi pulled it all together in the most wonderful way! Another favorite is at the riverbed, where we found a fallen tree to perch on, with the most gorgeous greens for a backdrop. Each location brought so much character to the session, and it all suited Gabi perfectly. She has a great character herself, one that’s only grown stronger through the hard times. “I had to play a softball game right after I found out that my grandfather died”, she shared, “It was hard to play, but I knew that he would have wanted me to keep going, and it felt like he was with me the whole time.” Her strength inspires me!
It was as wonderful day spent with Gabi, so much so that it felt like it was too short. It’s one of my greatest joys getting to know such strong and confident people, and I love learning about their lives for the small time that I’m working with them. Just from getting to know Gabi’s character, I know that she’ll go far in life, and I wish her the best in all of her adventures!
