She’s as gorgeous as the magical landscape around her, and she’s home to a quiet confidence. She’s Rachel, and she’s graduating from Nevada Union High School! Rachel is an industrious girl, and she’s been keeping busy with her job at the Holiday Market, and Key Club, Community Against Violence, and Athlete Committed clubs. She says, “If I could go back and tell my freshman self about my future, I’d tell her to get more involved! Some of my fondest memories come from my time in clubs and sports.” Rachel’s got a good head on her shoulders. She’s headed off to college soon to pursue a double major, studying both theatre and biology. She longs to be an actress, but understands the importance of having a good fallback!
We had her session in one of my favorite locations: the blossoming orchard. The spring flowers have come out in full force, and you can see them try to contend for the spotlight in Rachel’s shoot. She’s no stranger to the spotlight, as she’s captain of her cheerleading squad, and she’s involved in the Nevada Union drama department. She has a great story behind her name: “I was named Rachel Green after my namesake in ‘Friends’”, she said, “my mother’s water broke while she was watching the show, and I ended up having the same birthday as Jennifer Aniston, who played Rachel!”
The real Rachel has been through bright, happy times, and darker times as well. “My mother passed away recently due to a medical emergency”, she recalls, “it was sudden, unexpected, and like someone had pulled the rug out from under me. It has been a huge challenge to accept and move on from, and some days I don’t have the motivation to do anything. But my mother taught me better, so I keep pressing on. I can only thank my family and my friends for being there. And as tragic as losing her is, I can see that I am stronger now because of it.” You have your mother’s strength, Rachel. How beautiful it is to see such a confident, courageous young woman!
Rachel is an inspiration to me. Her quiet and persistent strength, and her dedication to positivity have touched me deeply, and I treasure the time that I got to spend with her. I’m so glad I had the privilege to capture her unique and powerful spirit in her senior photos. I wish her all of the best things in life as she continues on towards her future. Congrats, Rachel!
