Among the prettiest blooms in the orchard, Kayla was the most beautiful. She hails from Sutter Union High School, and she’s one of the hardest working gals I’ve had the pleasure to meet! Her plans are to attend a four year university to study communications and journalism. Her session was one filled with joy, and lots of colorful flowers. I loved the diversity that we had in the locations we used for the shoot: we visited the wonderful orchard in full bloom, beautiful pastureland, and a lovely place with pure white walls. Kayla’s such a wonderfully cheerful person, and her confidence was infectious!
Kayla says that her confidence comes from her happiness. She had to discover her happiness for herself during her time at high school: “If I could go back and tell my freshman self something, it would be to never let anyone control your happiness. Stay focused, and have fun!” she said. The joy that Kayla has is one that you notice immediately when you meet her, and what you’ll remember about her long after. It’s one that’s been grown through hardship: “I struggled in my harder classes when I noticed that some of my classmates were getting by easily without ever studying.” She said, “I would have to study, and study hard, and it was discouraging. It was an obstacle I overcame by knowing that I was doing my best, and that my study habits will help me in the future as well.” Kayla’s spirit is one that never quits, and it’s encouraging to see such a work ethic in someone so young!
In the summer, she works as a lifeguard, and she’s active in the Interact Club, student council, and the California Scholarship Federation. She loves soccer, cheer, and especially track: “Running track changed me as a person.” She said, “I realized I was good at something, and that I stood out. It’s taught me that even when you think there’s nothing left in you, there's always some strength still left, and that you can accomplish anything you want simply by changing your mindset.” What a wise girl!
It was such a privilege to capture this lovely lady’s soul in her senior pictures. Kayla was referred to me by Gillian, a beautiful girl who had me handle her senior session not too long ago. I love meeting so many wonderful young ladies, and having the chance to speak into their lives. To remind them that they’re loved, they’re beautiful, and that they can hold the proof of it in their hands when they get their photos. Kayla was a great example of the joy and confidence that I hope to help everyone have, and it was beautiful to see. I wish her great success in all of her endeavors! I know that she will accomplish everything she puts her mind to. Congrats!
