It was such a wonderful time with Aubrey. She’s a girl filled to the brim with a unique combination of passion and tenacity, and her radiant beauty with her genuine spirit made for one of the most pleasant times I’ve spent with anyone. She’s graduating from Colfax High School, and her plans for the future include either attending the University of Nevada, or Cal State, to study nursing or special education training. Her tender and caring disposition is perfectly suited for either pursuit, and she’s excited to get started on whatever’s next!
The sun was out at Empire Mine, warming the brisk air of our session. It made for a nice day overall, and the gorgeous photos that came from it was the icing on the cake. Life hasn’t always been a cake-walk for Aubrey, though. She spends as much of her time as she can on the volleyball court, where she feels like she truly belongs, and being away from it is hard for her. She recounted an obstacle she faced in her high school years: “In my junior year a sprained my ankle. My doctor told me I wouldn’t be able to play volleyball for the rest of my junior season, or even walk for 6 to 8 weeks.” she said, “I struggled with being limited to the sidelines, but I convinced my coaches to let me watch the practices. My team encouraged me everyday, and four weeks later I was able to walk without needing crutches, and a week after that I was back on the court playing with my team again.”
Aubrey values even more now the people in her life, those who lifted her up until she could walk on her own. She’s inspired by their altruism, and lists her father, mother and aunt as her biggest inspirations. Each of them pushed through trials and didn’t let what circumstances they found themselves in define who they were, and because of it they achieved what they set out to. Aubrey’s mother is especially responsible for instilling a caring and thoughtful spirit in Aubrey. You can see that same spirit in her senior photos, and boy, is it a pretty one. With her tenacity and her passion, I know that she will keep accomplishing great things. Congratulations, Aubrey!
