When you are having a down day, all you need to brighten it is to see Ashley’s smile. I had such a wonderful time doing her session, and we shared a lot of laughs while we chatted between shots. She’s graduating from Colfax High School, and plans on studying Political Science at university. She loves cosmetics, and gets a sense of confidence from having it done well. As she puts it, “eyebrows are the window to the soul”. She’s enjoyed high school, but has learned some life lessons in her time there. She said, “During the last week of school, I had a falling out with my best friend. It was heartbreaking, and I remember coming home from school and sulking every day. My Aunt comforted me in this tough time, and one of the things she said has stuck with me ever since: ‘enjoy life, and hold your head up high in even the hardest situations.’ While my friend and I never did make up, I learned that, while suffering is inevitable in life, you have to hold your head up and enjoy the journey, because life is too wonderful to sulk through it. Friends may not be forever, but happiness in life can be.”
Ashley has matured through her years in high school, and one of her biggest inspirations for her growth has been her mother. “Everyone who knows me knows that my mother is my entire world”, she said, “She is so kind to everyone she meets, and she is by far the strongest woman I’ve ever known. There is no one I would rather have as my mother.” Outside of school, Ashley likes to take things easy, and catch up on her favorite shows. She’s a patriotic girl, and we got some great photos of her wrapped in the American flag. The colors came out amazing! Apparently, Ashley’s been waiting a while to have a session with me. “I remember since I was a freshman that I wanted Lisa to do my senior photos”, she said, “I had seen senior girls posting their portraits for years. I guess it was a dream of mine to have her do my pictures.” If that’s not a compliment, I don’t know what is.
I wish Ashley good luck and all the happiness in the world as she moves on to college!
