If you’re a native to Grass Valley, you may have visited the Historic Empire Mine State Park. The Empire Mine State Park used to be a gold mine, and is nestled in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. When it closed in the fifties, it had been home to over five million ounces of gold! It’s such an interesting place to shoot…the rich nuances of so much history, combined with so many amazing backdrops and colors, makes it very ideal for a stylish senior like Brittany. She was part of my senior squad this year, and attends Nevada Union High School. Dance has been a very big part of her life, and of course, we wanted to incorporate this into her senior shoot. She brought along her ballet attire, and we were able to get the most beautiful shots of her on pointe (and can we just talk about those beautiful splits? Wow!). Brittany has been dancing for quite a while, and counts her wonderful dance instructor as one of her personal role models. “She always has a good attitude and respects and loves others with everything she can”, explains Brittany, who cites the dance trip to Disneyland as one of her favorite high school memories to date. This sweet and smart girl has managed to uphold an impressive 3.9 G.P.A., and is very active in her church youth group (going on trips and attending a few times a week).
Brittany’s friends Kaytlin and Violet referred her to me, and I couldn’t have been happier to have her on my team, representing my photography. She has beautiful personal style, and walks with the grace of a dancer, which made her a delight to work with. “I chose Lisa as my senior photographer because I loved the photo quality”, she adds, “I had heard other students talk about how happy they were with their photos, and how much fun they had.” She says her friends would probably say she is, “goofy, funny, loving, and well-spoken”, and I was able to see all these facets of her personality come out during our shoot. After her graduation, she plans to attend college, travel, and hopes to begin her studies to become a registered nurse. I know her confidence and work ethic will take her very far in life, and I hope she always remembers how special she is!
