Every senior I work with and meet, leaves a special impression on me. They come from all walks of life, and from just about every background imaginable. They also are athletes, musicians, bookworms, and fashionistas...but they all have one thing in common: each and every one is on the verge of a future. Whether they have a career in mind, or if they have no idea what they may want to do after graduation, each one has big dreams, and wants to leave an impression on the world. That is meaningful to me, and I consider if a true privilege to be their photographer. My 2018 Senior Squad is filled with what I jokingly call 'overachievers', because they all seem to be such bright, kind, and selfless young women. Kaitlyn is a strong athlete hailing from Bear River High School. I had met her family when I did her sister's senior photos in 2016, and was delighted when they honored me a second time with Kaitlyn's! She plays softball just about 24/7, and plans to attend Sonoma State with a softball scholarship after graduation. Currently, she plays travel fast pitch softball for the Firecrackers North in Elk Grove. "One of my biggest accomplishments so far has been scoring two home runs during my junior year, and being named MVP and First team All League", says Kaitlyn, "I feel most confident on the pitcher's mound, and doing what I love most". Although her sport takes much of her time, she also enjoys helping raise and show pigs at the Nevada County Fair, and she's active in her local FFA chapter.
When it came time to plan her senior shoot, I knew she'd want to incorporate her love of softball, and I was happy to oblige! Her fierce, athletic accomplishments translated well to several of the images below, and I hope she always is able to look back on this time in her life with pride and joy. We also did some urban shots that featured a casual fall outfit, so that Kaitlyn would have a variety of looks. Lastly, her black dress and red saltwater sandals were the perfect elegant and classy look. We utilized a perfect brick wall, as well as a street with a short picket fence, which worked together to showcase her sweet and loving personality. Kaitlyn plans to study Kinesiology and Athletic Training in college, and I can't wait to follow the next steps of her journey.
Kaitlyn's family was eager to make these images into wall prints, and I hope they love them as much as I do!
